I’ve not gone as far as to start a countdown clock until the next golf trip, but it’s real possibility. (c) Golf Digest
As Labor Day has come and gone, taking the best parts of summer with it into the rear-view mirror, I already find myself periodically daydreaming about, scheming, and planning next year’s Guys’ Golf Trip.
Yes, next year is still a long way off. I mean, sure, there’s an entire college football season, college basketball season, and half a hockey season between now then.
Nonetheless, I can’t help but look forward to spending a couple of days with my closest friends, on the golf course, far from the worries and responsibilities of home.
The Wife and I are expecting our first child this December, so I realize everything is going to change between now and next spring.
But with so much change on the horizon, there’s a comfort in knowing that on a certain date, at a certain golf course, I will be in the company of friends, and we’ll all be 25 again.
Unfortunately, our legs and backs won’t be 25 years old again. So, as much as I think we’d all enjoy playing 54 holes a day, reality dictates that we should probably come up with something else to do.

The eternal debate: what to do with those hours each day that aren’t spent on the golf course? (c) Golf Digest
Which brings me to the subject of this week’s poll question. When you’re on a Golf Trip, what is your favorite non-golf activity to schedule into the down time?
I have some friends that swear by partnering a golf trip with the opportunity to do some hunting or fishing, be it in the mountains and lakes, or chartering a half-day fishing boat for the open water.
Some guys are foodies and have to include a fancy restaurant or two on a golf trip, while yet others are perfectly content to crawl the local pub scene after the Sun goes down.
So, Dear Readers, please take a second and let me know your favorite non-golf activity that you’ve made part of your buddies’ golf trip.
Dave!
Congrats on having a baby!!! Everything is going to change, but for the better. My baby has left the nest and that changed our lives as well. Life is all about changes and you have a great attitude to embrace them. Great question by the way, I picked golf tournament, but any sporting event would be awesome.
Cheers
Jim
