I have to admit, I was more than a little excited to receive the PMGA (Picadome Men’s Golf Association) club tournament calendar via email the other morning. Despite being in the middle of a complete swing overhaul, the promise of playing golf on a course unencumbered by snow, ice, and fallen tree branches put a little extra pep in my step for the remainder of the day. Cabin fever has overtaken The Wife and The Dog, and I fear I may be next.
I’m equally anxious and excited to get the golf season under way. I’ve never played in any club tournaments. In fact, my competitive golf history has been limited to a couple rounds of intramural golf in college and one or two scrambles a year that are generally more about networking and having a good time than playing good golf. It will be interesting to see if my nerves hold up or if I fold like a newspaper under the pressure.
If the competitive aspect of tournament play turns out to be a bust, I trust the entire experience won’t be a waste. I will be playing golf, after all. And at least I will meet some new people who enjoy golf as much as I do. I may even gain a friend or two out of the experience.
After a long delay, due to pipeline construction occurring on the course being delayed due to our extremely long and harsh winter, our updated schedule has finally arrived.
