A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of joining Matthew Laurence to tape a quick hit for Backspin Golf, his weekly golf radio show airing Sunday mornings during the golf season on WLXG 1300, our local ESPN affiliate.
I hold myself out as an authority on nothing in particular within the realm of golf. However, it was a chance to talk golf with someone.
In particular, Matthew was eager enough to delve with me into the minutia, the obscure, and the out-of-the-way as it pertains to amateur and Kentucky golfers, topics in which I’m more than willing to expose wholly unqualified opinions.
It’s a brief interview, but we discuss a few entertaining topics of the day: including the scourge that is slow play, this year’s Ryder Cup, Snell Golf Balls, and more.
I’ve extracted and reproduced my interview below, so check it out if you have a few minutes. Warning: I sound just like I write (in perpetually stunned disbelief that I made it through it without swearing).
You can catch the entire episode from the WLXG podcast archive on the station’s website.
This was the swan song for the season for Backspin Golf, but Matthew and his crew will be back on in the spring, and I’d encourage you to give him a listen next year if you like what you hear from the podcasts.
